- Identify ethics quality gaps (disparities between current practices and best practices)
- Develop and implement ethics quality improvement initiatives based on gap analysis
- Foster a climate of preventive ethics in which dilemmas and conflicts are identified and addressed proactively
- Develop educational initiatives that prepare and empower executive leaders and staff to intervene when ethically challenging cases threaten to lead to patient and family dissatisfaction or create intractable and often resource draining conflicts
- Assist in the creation of a work place culture that is respectful of diversity of perspective, attentive to the sources of moral distress, and successful in retaining the best and most committed executive leaders and staff
